How it works

Pasture Monitor was developed in partnership with Trace & Save and FourthQ, so its biomass data is built into FourthQ.

  1. Satellites photograph your camps

Sentinel-2 and PlanetScope satellites pass over every 1 to 5 days. Images with cloud cover are left out.

  2. Machine learning measures the grass

A model trained on years of weekly ground measurements turns each image into biomass per camp, in kg/ha, with an uncertainty range.

  3. You see it in FourthQ

Biomass per camp appears in FourthQ alongside the pasture records you already keep, ready for your next grazing decision.

More detail in the Pasture Monitor web app

For deeper analysis, the web app adds maps, rankings and comparisons.

Biomass map

A colour-coded map of biomass per camp, with growth rates between satellite passes and total farm biomass over time.

Pixel-level dash

Find problem patches inside a camp from growth vigour, moisture and nitrogen readings.

Camp rankings

Rank every camp by growth vigour and moisture, against its own history.

History graphs

Follow condition and biomass for any camp over time, down to a single date.

Side-by-side compare

Put two maps or two dates next to each other to see what changed.
